THird law of physics is that for every action, there is a equal counteraction. Which means, in theory if you set up a day where everyone is awake and tell everyone to walk in the opposite direction the earth rotates, you would have enough force (theoretically) to slow down the rotation. BUt i think that is highly impossible to do.

I don't know about making days 48 hours long but the earth has slowed rotation just a tiny tiny tiny bit after the earthquake a couple years back so it is somewhat possible to slow or quicken the days but not anything significant.

Of course. Remember the Asian quake, which resulted the Tsunami, it delayed Earth's rotation in 5 seconds. Now, you can detonate 10 nuclear bombs at the sametime, and it will delay Earth's rotation in 2 MINUTES.

It is possible only by the Creator, Allah.
You just go near the Horizon of any Black Hole..when you come back after some time...we would have been much older than you.
You might have enjoyed a slowed time.
Bon Voyage.

That's impossible. It rotates on it's orbit and will rotate till billions of years. It will rotate till the sun does not loose all it's gases. (while the sun is loosing all it's gases it will swallow all the planets and become a white dwarf)

the only reason we exist is because the earth remains warm during the night hours. if you slowed it down, the night would get really cold and all sorts of bad things would happen. so my answer is i hope that we cannot.
