Garuda, the vehicle of Vishnu, he is an eagle in human form. His mother was Kadru. When snakes and eagles were friends, Kadru and Vinota (mother of snakes) bet on the colour of Indra's horse. Kadru said white, Vinota said black. Vinota later bit the horse and made it black. Since then eagles and snakes are enemies. Now Vishnu's other vehicle is the Sheshnag (huge serpent). He sleeps on it. So whenever Garuda wants to come, the snake has to go.
Then there is Jatayu, Garuda's brother. In the Ramayana, when Ravana grabbed Sita and was flying away in his Pushpak viman (that's flying chariot), Jatayu hear Sita and tried to rescue her. But it was old and Ravana cut off its wings. It lived long enough to point Rama across the sea to Lanka.
Then there is Vayu (the God of Wind), he is also called Pavan.
His son is Hanuman (Pavan putra - son of Pavan), he could fly, was invincible, could become gigantic, carry huge weights. All this was before Superman. Hanuman is famous.
Lara Croft (Angelina) is shown killing a stone Garuda in Tomb Raider, so the movie was banned in some places.

Atheism invented the "invisible pink unicorn", which can porportedly fly.
Amongst older fables, there are wyverns, gargoyle, harpies, and Quetzacoatl (an Incan flying snake-god with feathered wings) and in christian mythology, "angels" and "cherubim", among many others.
