Are the 1990s Mazda 626's good vehicles? I think that the 1993-01 Mazda 626's were way ahead of their time and they recieve good gas mileage for a compact/midsized sedan.

I have one, year 2000 very good, i bought it used 2 years ago. I love it, does not go out of style. The only drawback I have heard (but did not happen to me) is that the transmission gets bad after the 80K mark... in average.

I had a '89 Ford Probe... same underpinnings as the 626 from the same year. It lasted over 200,000 miles. Now one of my neighbors has it and still drives it a lot.

i would not go too old on these - i own a mazda b2200... the late 80's early 90's one have tranny problems. otherwise it is a good car. I would go for the 323/protege.
