I would agree that Jack the Ripper and Charles Manson are contenders. But Gary Ridgeway, the Green River Killer, is the most prolific serial killer in the history of the US. Killing and confessing to over 48 murders, (that he could remember), it is believed to be more. I think he takes the cake! We also can't forget Jeffery Dahmer or the Zodiac killer in Calif.

I would have to go with "Jack The Ripper" every generation has heard of him and his crimes were never solved so I guess he was also the most successful also

historically speaking I would say Jack the Ripper and far as killer types..if just murdering in general then Hitler would be it.

I would have to say Cain from the Bible (book of Genesis) because he was the very first man to commit murder, and he killed his brother Abel.
