I'm really fed up with my Apple Mini Ipod that has broken after just 12 months. The battery will not charge, despite me having looked after it - running it down and charging it up completely each time. I am told that I could have the battery replaced, but for what it costs I might as well buy a new one. Apparently this is quite a common problem with Ipods. This does not seem ethical to me and I don't want to pour good money after bad. Any suggestions for a different make of MP3?

My iPod Mini broke after three months and a few accidental drops. I replaced it with an iPod Nano and have never looked back. Had it for a year now, and the battery life is as good as when it was new. Furthermore, I've dropped it much more than I dropped the Mini, and it still works flawlessly. Screen's brilliant too.

As for the sound quality, don't be fooled into thinking iPods are poor—it's the supplied headphones that let it down. Spend £15 one some decent ones. I use Sony in-ear phones.

Creative. The Zen is really good because its features are better than the iPod's.
