I think he was being too sensitive, It doesn't seem to me that you were being racist, you should have asked him why he thought you were being racist. All you said was that your son looked more Japanese than his sister. The proper meaning of racism is a belief that one race is more supreme than the others. but nowadays racism definitions are split into multiple definitions. So anything related to race or religion can now be racist.
Plus you said he was a old man, no offense to the old people, I am not ageist or anything, but maybe the old man was confused or drunk or just plain pissed off for some reason.
Also the man was an idiot for swearing in front of your child.

Maybe he confused you with someone else. Maybe he has dementia, you said he was old. Maybe he thought you were giving someone a dirty look - what race was he? Maybe he calls everyone a racist just to cause them stress (that's an evil way to have fun, must remember that one for when I'm old).
As long as you know yourself to not be a racist, don't worry about it. It doesn't matter what other people think.
OH, here's another thought! I missed it before where you mentioned that you are mixed. Both of my kids are biracial and sometimes people make really wierd comments to them. Maybe he didn't know the right word for "biracial" and wanted to comment on that. I guess that if you really, really twisted your logic, you could see being biracial as being somehow wrong, maybe that's it.

These days it is a badge of honor. Only the most moronic and slavish people get through life without that happening to them every now and then.
Did you know people will call you an anti-semite if you dare critisize the use of cluster-bombs against Lebanese civilians? Enough said...

Maybe the old man was one of those people who think you should only be involved with people of your own ethnicity. What was the old man's ethnicity anyway? If he was black, maybe he thinks you're "selling out" and trying to pass for white by going out with a white girl?....I dunno. Need more details.
Edit: read your additional details...here's another theory..maybe he thought by saying what you did, you were favoring one child over another because he looked "more japanese."...
In any case, don't sweat it...people jump to all sorts of assumptions about people they don't know. You don't know him and he doesn't know you...so why should a stranger's opinion affect you, right?

People are FAR too sensitive about racism these days. That's why. You need only mention the world black and people go flying off the tangent. Thank god for Dave Chappelle.

Some people sling around the accusation of racism very freely indeed. Sooner or later everyone, no matter how honorable, ends up being accused of racism by someone who has emotional issues they cannot control. Don't let it bother you.

Cause when people get old they just get mad and will call you anything. My grandma cursed
the cashier for helping her get her groceries
out the basket and onto the checkout. She told the cashier that she wanted to throw the groceries at her.Just blow it off.Old people don't make any since.
