neither! each station has something that they're very good at: honest journalism (GMA), good marketing strategy (ABS). If only another station would come up with both the stations' strong qualities, then that would be the perfect tv station. both stations are influential and they are quite cunning when it comes to cloaking the truth about certain events to infuse their side in politics. sadly, most of their viewers believe them to a T. but, i'm happy that the people are slowly awakening and learning to decide for themselves and not just follow what the tv says. have you tried watching on ABC 5? they've good good programming for a relatively new network. that's because most of their employees are from GMA and ABS ;)

Now past its 50th year, GMA is a respectable LEADER in Philippine broadcasting, reaching at least 12 million households.

I cant ask questions yet and sorry but i cant answer yours but is it safe for americans to visit the Phillipines. My boyfriend is half philipino and always wanted to visit. Sorry I did this in your post.
