supposedly, in addition to a WTC tribute center, they're planning on building three skyscrapers to fill up the space destroyed. do you think this is right or wrong? personally, i think that they should keep the tribute center but don't build the skyscrapers because the whole area is consecrated (sacred) ground. what do you guys think?

The problem is that space is worth a lot of money, so they have to make use of it as high as it can go. I wonder if the new buildings will be haunted.

"Sacred"? What an outdated notion. Religion is *why* 9/11 happened. Faith doesn't move mountains, it levels buildings.

If it weren't political suicide, every New York mayor would rip up Central Park to build highrises. Do you actually believe that they won't rebuild something as tall to rent office space? Downtown New York has the second most expensive land in the world after Tokyo.

The only thing that will be different about the new buildings is that they might be connected, similar to the Petronas Towers in Malaysia. Beyond, that, it will be straight up and probably look the same.

The chances of the same sort of plane attack happenning again are slim and none; they could - and probably will - build the exact same buildings, but taller, because the originals were designed to stand that way for the wind resistance they caused.

If we left grounds undeveloped because people died there then this country would have very little space to build anything. How many hundreds of thousands of Indians have died here in the USA. We didn't hesitate to build on top of Indian burial grounds or other sacred sites did we? Do they not live closer to the earth than us non-indians?

I think a nice tall building with a memorial in the area would be the best solution. It would show the cowards who destroyed the WTC that they'll need to do better than that to disrupt the USA!

its nyc, there is no sacred ground, do you have any idea how much an acre of cleared land goes for there?

and as far as the idea of "sacred ground" and not being able to build on it, are we supposed to vacate every inch of real estate where a person has died, erecting an effing monument and 'tribute center' to their life and death? thats why we have cemetaries, mauoleums and our bloody mantle for a decorative urn!

it was a terrible incident, alot of people died, but c'mon! people die every day and all this blathering about the "importance and sanctity" of 911 and its victims is just more American pop culture crapola! it gives us all the idea that death really isnt that bad and mournful unless its televised and meets a certain "tragedy" body count.

I am safe and secure in my life and opinions that I genuinely feel remorseful for any loss of life (regardless if i knew the person or their close ones) , for the person who is no longer living and those who live on without that person.

we need to get our effing priorities straight here people.

When we die,our souls leave us.We all return to the dirt.I feel sorry for the families because they don't get any remains back to help with the reality(not closure),I don't think there is closure.I question the buildings for this reason"why so tall, why create an equally large target as it was before.I think the tribute area is a great idea. But,as someone who lost a brother 6 months ago today, life moves on.It doesn't stop, even when it feels like it should.

Yes, they should build 3 new buildings. an the center one should be taller than the other two... and the official "enterance" should point toward the Middle east.

They SHOULD NOT be forgotten but life must go on.

Like our heroes that fought in war and ones that lost their lives for America or being American should always be respected and honored.

We may carry the sorrow of the fallen but we have to keep on going, I'm sure that is what they would want us to do too. Keep America safe, free, and prosperous.

What better way to honor the victims of 9/11 by telling the terroist community that they did not destroy our spirits and to rebuild buildings there. I think we should rebuild there. I would likt to see one large building and two smaller ones on either side. That would send a msg to the terrorists of the world.....
