Charcoal is made by heating biomass to a high temperature without burning it. This is done by burying the biomass so that no oxygen can get to it while being superheated.
In principle any kind of biomass can be processed, but for practical reasons only wood is used, because it is easier to handle.

charcoal is made from decomposed organic matter. That matter has been compressed over thousands of years into a rock-like state from earth and rock settling on top of it.

I don't know how you can speed up this process to make your own. Who knows, diamonds have be recreated so maybe it's possible.

Burning charcoal generates smoke that has very toxic properties . When charcoal is used to power factories the smoke pollution comes back down in the form of acid rain, killing trees and marine life.

Propane is superb to your familiar burger flipper like me. It does not upload any undesirable flavor to the food as many declare. to your fish fry purists, charcoal with countless species of wood chips is the only thank you to bypass. In my humble opinion, to your speedy burger or steak it particularly does not make that huge a distinction yet for slowly roasted meats, inclusive of brisket, pork or rotisserie style cooking, using proper banked charcoal and wood chips could make a extensive result on the flavour. .
