you really have to be careful becuase only certain states could cover you in the good samaritan law but you could also be taken to court becuase its illegal to perform something that your not perfessionally trained to do...

You're most likely protected under the Good Samaritan Law which says that if you offer aide to someone who is in dire need of aide, and you somehow cause harm to that person, then you are not held responsible.

well depends if your near there and you try to help them then the family could sue you but im sure they wont win and the life gaurd on duty could get into trouble bc he/she was not around but if there is no life guard around and you saw them in trouble and rescue them im sure nothing would happen to you bc you tried to help even though it was not succefull that would not be your fault because the outcome would be the same if you didnt help they just people if you can its worth a shot i would hate to think if no help was around that you would let someone drown.
