When few people want to sell, it means they are optismistic and think the stocks they own will go higher. It doesn't mean they are correct or they won't change their minds soon.

You are asking two questions not one. The first case (nobody want to sell) is no bidding with asking. this happens when either the company is tightly held or there are very good news that nobody is willing to unload now. The second case bidding with no asking is the total contrast. very bad news and everybody want to sell but no buyers. this will lead to a huge drop in the stock price.

Depending on what stocks u have it is always good to hold on to them while they are low and the winter months are slow unless it is a food or medicine stock. I have most of my money in whole foods right now and they are staying pretty low but I have a feeling they will go back up in the beginning of next year.

really simple. they are sure that the price of the stock that they hold will increase in value. then when they do sell they would have made more money than they originally paid for them. or it could be they hold the majority of stocks in a company or are holding on to take the majority share holding.

then price rises to a price where people would be selling so if there are trades going on volume going up that means people are selling, there may not be a backlog as they are coming in as market orders.
