You're a very dedicated fan, but maybe you should cool it for a while and listen to some other bands too
I'm a maniacal Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, but I'm not ashamed to admit that I have Californication on both cassette and CD, and I only bought the CD cuz it has 3 videos along with it...
I'm still a Chili Peppers freak, but I listen to other bands too, and you know what? When i havent listened to a Chili Peppers album for a long time, and I play it, it sounds better than ever!
So why don't you listen to some other bands for a while, and then get back to The Doors? I'm sure you'll love them even more after you've calmed down and come back to them.
Peace,
;)

Don't buy things just for the sake of buying them. I have been collecting music for over 25 years. Yes, I have The Doors. A lot of record labels use marketing ploys to suck the money right out of you. For instance, "An American Prayer" was re-released with bonus tracks - "Babylon Fading", "Bird of Prey", and "Ghost Song" - These tracks are not that good and that's why they were edited in the first place. When it comes to "OLD SCHOOL" ask for recommendations from people who know (and I don't mean your friends) ask your parents, grandparents, and their friends or "The old hippie" down the block. Good luck on your quest.
The Doors -"Absolutely Live" is my recommendation.

You're a fan! But it's ok. You're not an overdoser yet. If you're spending your rent money on their music then we have a problem. Take a break, listen to someone else for a month or so, then come back to The Doors. If during that time you find that you can't live without them, then you might want to seek professional assistance.

A great song can be performed generation after generation. THe Doors were one of the greatest groups. You can find many of today's groups which cover older groups songs. Some covers of Beatles songs are wonderful (Fabulous Cadillacs for example.)

I sing and play drums and like to practice with all kinds of music. There is nothing wrong with listening to different versions of songs to hear how the guitarists play. Do you like Opeth and Disturbed?

The Doors were a fantastic group, and had a very unique sound. Jim Morrison had such a great voice, and it's a shame he died so young. I have worn out some cd's from playing them so much, so I think you're a fan!

Stay with it. If it's interfering with your your life than stop, but if not, there's no harm.

I'm a fan of something (a TV show, lol) and don't find it a waste of my money. I buy the DVDs and if I could I'd buy more things. It sets you apart from other ppl who are just as passionate about something else.

Sounds like an addiction, But it could be worse, At least your spending your money on something else beside drugs or alcohol. I'm addicted to answering questions. My g/f knows where to find me at night when shes working...I say keep up the good work, unless its affecting other aspects of your life
