He's witty on They think it's all over but I think he's worried about being overtaken by younger presenters like Russell Brand so, now, instead of just being young at heart (which was admirable) he tries to swear and be as shocking as he thinks 'the kids' are.
Fortunately, he seems to know that he is doing it.
Chris Evans in his TFI Friday period was magic but it could not last forever- the decline of the show mirrored the decline of the peak of Britpop.
David Letterman (who Jonathan Ross and Chris Evans admire) is the ultimate chat show host as he is both mature in his outlook and childlike.

My husband has seen Jonathan Ross on the streets of London so many times that we now think that Jonathan Ross is stalking him.
Although when he ran into him a CyberCandy (excellent sweet shop) with the whole of his family, he was very polite and courteous to other shoppers, as were his children. So we may forgive his weird stalking ways.....

He does love himself too much, but I think he is there to appeal to the middle-aged ladies who think he is 'the man'. The alternative is Charlotte Church ...which is addictively bad...which is aimed at the middle-aged men!
Why not turn off the TV and do something less boring instead.... "WHY DON'T YOU....?"...classic tv that was worth every penny of licence money (although someone will probably say it was on ITV...I can't remember)

I think J Ross seems to have a problem with his ego. He thinks he is cutting edge, but he's really not as good as he used to be. Getting to big for his own boots and he does treat his guests like muck...
There is a Dutch Jonathan Ross called JENSEN and he has a lot more tact and interviews his guests in both Dutch and English!

I wouldn't say he is a waste of licence money, but my opinion of him IS changing.
I used to think he was hilarious, really quick witted and original. He has just become 'samey'. His Jokes are old, his put-downs are not quick fire, he is pompous and up himself.
However, he still has a loyal fan base and he's still earning shed loads of money.
C'est la vie!

I have never understood the appeal of this man, I find him embarrassing he and his show is a poor imitation of David Letterman, jay Leno etc.

I never used to like him but now I think that he's brilliant - witty, learned, irreverent and silly. Like myself, he may skirt the borders and occasionally dabble in pretension but only because we find it all so amusing and entertaining.
