why doesnt the big e icon appear on my screen, i cant even get the address bar?

Press the 'F11' button at the top of the keyboard!
You should see it return back to normal for you

You can bring the "e" back again by
Control Panel > Display > desktop > customize Desktop
and select Internet Explorer check

Now if you want to show the Address bar, in Internet explorer, go to
View > Toolbars > Addressbar
