You need to sit down and talk to your friend. Even if you don't stay with her, he is your friend and has the right to know what is going on.
I'm sure he won't take it well at first, but there is a chance that he will get over it and you will be able to salvage both your friendship and your relationship.
Honesty is never the easiest way to tell someone dear to you that you did them wrong, but it is always the best way. It is better for you to tell him than for him to find out on his own. Then it would be almost guaranteed that your friendship would be ruined.
