Yes unfortunately Steve Irwin is still dead.
And yes it will have some sort of impact on the world. It already has.... haven't you noticed?
People have stopped to read in the papers about Steve, they might of out of interest sake watched the Animal Planet channel to see what all the fuss is about. The people who weren't interested in Steve Irwin before might have found an interest in the man now. And if just one person becomes inspired by what they have read or seen and decides to do something for the environment and/or animals then yes Steve Irwins death has made an impact. And by the amount of donations being made to his Wildlife Warriors cause then his death has impacted on a lot of people.
I can understand why you may be sceptical, but why be so protaganistic about it all and try and get people so riled up about it?
And to answer your question about how much sleep I have lost over him.....? Not much to be honest but I have thought A lot about his family, his work and the man himself.
Maybe if you read a little bit more about the man you will realise how unpretentious he really was and that his life really was about his family and the environment.

I may not have lost sleep, but I'm still quite sad and I still feel the world has lost an extraordinary human being. We need many, many more people like Steve Irwin who loved the animals and the planet as much as anyone. His enthusiasm for conservation efforts and for understanding the world around us should be admired by all.

Phonies? You are being a little harsh aren't you, as we have lost someone who made a difference.
The world would be a much better place if we had more people like Steve in it.
He touched people's hearts and got them caught up in his enthusiasm for his passions, the environment and wildlife.
Glad you haven't lost sleep but leave people alone to deal with his death, he is greatly missed.

I dont know where you are but in Australia we are all still in shock about this. I went to the zoo a couple of days ago and paid my respects and their wasnt a dry eye there. I actually lost quite a bit of sleep over this and so did a lot of children here that worshipped the man including my son. I think it made children realise even who they see as super heros are not invincible. RIP Steve. ps I am sure his family and friends have lost quite a bit of sleep over this too.

I'm sorry that Steve Irwin died so young, but he is gone and I have the living to worry about, such as a seriously ill husband! Does that make me a phony? I've been lucky to get 3 hours of sleep a day for over two months now!!!!!!!!!

you are cold and heartless,he left a wife and children, think of there pain, and here you are smug and acting like it doesn't matter,it does matter a lot of people are really effected by his death, including me,i can't watch Animal channel any more because they keep taking about him,and the children that love him are very hurt, you need to stop acting like a smart ***,and have some human compassion, and if no one remembers you when you die i can see why what have you done to make people care

I haven't forgot him. The Animal Planet is showing segment featuring different aspects of his life and I've been watching. I hope that in remembering him, we can also find ways to honor him by doing even one thing for animals, maybe making a small donation in his name to any animal organization, or your humane society, or signing a petition for animal rights, you can find all kinds on the Internet, or doing anything at all to honor his memory.

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

I'm an Aussie. I can't forget about it. It's still in every newspaper, and on the TV. My 5 year-old son is still upset about it. And yes, I did lose sleep...trying to work out a way to make it easier for him and his little friends to try and understand and get over it easier
