There are so many girls/women in here everyday that are asking questions about being pregnant who don't seem to want babies or understand anything about pregnancy. No one is born knowing about babies, of course, but these girls seem SO irresponsible and naive. It's like they have no idea how they got pregnant or they act like the baby would inconvenience them somehow or they are in a panic over it. They don't seem to understand that pregnancy IS preventable. Why are they panicking now? Now it's too late. Does this scare anyone else?

I don't feel sorry for the mothers... I feel sorry for the babies, Chelle. And I wouldn't say it's always been this way. There weren't alot of 15 and 16 year olds in my school that were pregnant. I was basically the only one that age. Of course, by then I wasn't in school. It IS an epidemic and to me it is frightening.

i think these young girls should start paying attention in school. the ones that get me are the ones that have had unasfe sex and then ask if its possible they are pregnant - well of course it is you bozo's

i was certainly not that niave when i was 13 plus

i think that they should all realise that they are too young to have children if they are too irresponsible to use birth control in the first place

it makes me sick actually - i am sure there are some that would make great mothers but by the sounds of it this is not the majority

No, it doesn't scare me. This has been going on for a long time - it's just that there weren't forums like this where people could see how widespread the problem is.

Remember also that we don't know who is posting these messages - and we have no way of knowing whether or not these people are even female, let alone pregnant. Some of them are probably curious kids.

And if they are pregnant and unprepared, you are right, it's too late. The good news is that for most of them, becoming a parent will be a RUDE awakening and will knock some sense into them.

I was 18 when I got pregnant.I wasn't panicked until I brought the baby home.I think if yahoo was invented at the time I could have possibly asked stupid questions,But I did it the old fashion way and bought a book.My first son was the first baby I ever held.I was scared but not unequipped to take care of him.I had family for advice. My mother in law drove me crazy with it.My life has always been about my kids.I didn't go out and act like a teenager,I stayed at home and cared for my child.

It's just the same as my parent's generation....free love and all that. No thought to the concequences!
I feel it's only fair for them to panic if they have done everything within their power to prevent a pregnancy and it still happens. (ie: multiple birth control methods.)
If they get preggers after an "oops" night of drinking or the ever so reliable "pull out" method....well I don't feel so sorry for them, they got what they deserved.

Bottom line: There needs to be more practical and realistic sexual education in the schools. I know a lot of parents want to be "the one" to tell their kids about it, but if you say that you have the responsibility to give your child a real and practical education......not just the abstinence talk....it obviously doesn't work, thank you so much Mr. Bush!!!

the age of some of the girls freaks me out more than the lack of knowledge and awareness. they all seem so young, no wonder they have such strange notions about babies. I have always loved kids but couldnt imagine having one till i had worked for a while and gotten some money saved, also grown up mentally. I have enough friends that had their kids early and then wept about not being able to party or afford them. thankfully, I did all my partying in the last 10 years and am happy to be mommy to my 9 month old angel Alyssa.

Tell me about it. I'm constantly answering questions about teenagers that are pregnant. The problem is this generation. They are spoiled rotten, have no concept about responsibility at all. I have a 17 year old but then we couldn't have anymore kids and we really wanted them. Its just pissing me off hearing about them. Its called a freaking condum already, use them. And what about the mother of these girls? Its as if they are no longer afraid of "what if". My mom would have killed me if I got pregnant young. Its time for a change thats for sure. My daughter has numerous girls at her school thats pregnant, its like an epidemic or something. And who ends up supporting them? Their parents or our hard earned freaking tax dollars.

Yes very much so. There are so many 15 years olds having sex and having baby's. Its so crazy. I feel bad for these baby's. SAD SAD Thing. They need to pass out free birth control at school i think.

totally agree with number 1 everyone has a choice think about it before you commit to something as serious as sex cuz a baby is a long term commitment it isn't a doll the buzz wears off and then comes the responsibility of providing a stable background for that child.

Yup it is scary. these young girls are actually having babies and the scariest part is that they have no parenting skills and my daughter will have to grow up in the same generation of these kids..
