Regular internet is dial up service, you call a number with your computer and it gets a connection and you access the internet, High speed or broadband is any form or always on internet, this includes DSL, Cable, T1, and Satellite.
DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line, and comes through your standard phone line after they have moved your line to a digital line, Cable is internet that is fed through your cable service, and tends to be somewhat faster in most areas. Satellite is internet gotten through a satellite service, but you have a chance of losing signal during rainy and dense cloudy days.
T1 is mainly used for business and while still fast it tends to be slower than most of the other forms on down load speed but it is as fast up as it is down.
Hope this helps.

high speed internet connections can be provided to you through DSL (from your phone company), cable (through your cable company), or through a satellite dish. a regular internet connection is a dial-up connection. high speed connections are 8-50 times faster
