I'm still shocked by his death. He was so passionate about these animals. I loved the man. His show was great. I don't think his family should accept the state funeral because a funeral is for the family and friends not everyone. A lot of ppl loved the man but his family and friends are the ones who knew him personally. They are only doing what he would have wanted. They need private time to say goodbye to him. God Bless all of his family and his friends.

Crikey mate I live 20 mins from the zoo, My theory is that the family rejected the state funeral because Steve didnt get on that well with the queensland premiere I couldnt blame him peter beattie is a pain in the ****. I visited the zoo a couple of days ago to pay my respects it has shattered nearly everyone here young and old. He will be very missed. He was muched loved by all. Rip Steve.

It is his families choice to do as they feel best for them.
HIS family is ALL that should matter.
I loved Steve & his family doing things together & he will be missed.
He had such a zest for life, his family & animals!
His eyes just sparkled w/ delight when he talked about his family or animals.
It reminded me of a little boy just so happy & so much enthusiasm.
When he talked about Bendi he just glowed!!!!
The news showed a video of when she was born & he was sooo proud!
It's all just soo sad but he died doing what he loved to do.

I am sure the family fulfilled Steve's wishes by letting them grieve in private.
They have a public memorial planned for him also.
God Bless Terri, Bendi, Robert and the family & firends of Steve.
R.I.P. Steve...the world will miss you!

Sad. But his family should have the funeral they want. Let the Country, or World pay a tribute later. This should be private family time.

i was like soooooooooooooo UPSET to hear he passed away. it has always been my secret dream to see him in person, and i know that the farthest i'll go is visit hs grave.
he's wrestled crocodiles for god's sake, why did he have to die because of a harmless stingray??????? i have prayed for that guy at least twice, and i hope he does find eternal happiness wherever he ends up (which i seriously think is heaven).

Terry was offered the state funeral but she didnt accept it. It doesnt really matter, its just about letting his family organise his funeral in peace and about what he might have wanted.
