Pour Arm & Hammer baking soda down both sides of the sink. Run water for 2 minutes to flush well. Use white vinegar to wash all the appliances, stove, fridge, dishwasher (if your apartment has one). Pull the fridge out & vacuum behind it, using the cleaning hose to get the coils on the back; mop the floor under it too. CAREFULLY pull out the stove, especially if it's a gas one. Vacuum behind there, using a cleaning hose, then mop the floor there too. You can use the Mr. Clean Magic Reach, Swiffer Wet Jet, Libman Wonder Mop, etc. Check for mold in the cupboards & under the sink. Clean your sink(s) weekly with Comet & use the Arm & Hammer as often as you want to get rid of odors.
I buy the cheap Sink Scents at Wal-Mart. I spent $2 for 2, one for each side of my double sink. The scent doesn't last long but helps the unwanted silverware & food from going into the garbage disposal. You might also find them at the dollar stores. There are bigger ones called Daisy stoppers in the household cleaning section at Wal-Mart, Target, etc.

Wipe everything down with Clorox Cleanup. Not very expensive.
Wear gloves. Use a sponge or cloth rag and rinse it out periodically.
Use it for mopping, too, unless you have wood floors.
If you have a garbage disposal, fill it with ice, then pour in some bleach. Turn on the disposal. This will give something to scrap the insides clean, and also bleach it.
Otherwise the bleach just pours though.
Pour some bleach and water down the other side if you have two sinks.
Be sure to keep your trashcans washed, too.
Check behind the fridge and anything else where dead things could be.
Sweep and mop.

Have you washed EVERYTHING? Sometimes it's just an accumulation of dust in places that people don't use very often. Try cleaning under the appliances -- almost nobody gets under there as it's difficult -- and behind them as well. Pour drain opener down the drain (huge source of odors) and use lime-away on the surfaces that need it.
You might also consider that it's not the kitchen itself but something else that you can only smell in the kitchen -- perhaps a neighbor or something outside the window. Check your ventillation system if you think it might be that. It maybe hasn't been cleaned in a long time. Radiators can be very stinky too; do you have one of those?

Get vinegar and wipe the walls, countertops, and surfaces that you see might need it.
Also, pour a lot of salt (with running water) down the drain, and then add 1/2 a bottle of vinegar to clean the pipes.
Pour vinegar in bowls and let the kitchen air out.
Also, if you want get strong Turkish coffee and simmer for an hour. Make sure pot is full of water, though.

put some draino down your sink, check under the sink for drips as this may have got into the chipboard. Apart from that, are your ovens and stove clean? Cupboards clean? Fridge clean, have you cleaned out the tray under the fridge? Are their tiles on the floor and is the grout still surrounding all the tiles. Do you have a backsplash board at the back of your taps. Is that clean and dry. Geez thats all I can think of.
Good luck

Maybe open the windows, turn on a fan near the windows, and clean everything as the others suggest.

Take you a gallon of vinegar, put it in a pot and place it on the stove over low/medium heat...Vinegar absorbs odor.... Also, get you a box of baking powder like you put in your fridge, and open the box and set it on your counter somewhere...Sprays and candles stuff like that just covor up the odor...You want to eliminate it..... Please Try this it will work... They make people who are sprayed by skunks soak in vinegar water......
