Lakesha, I hate to state the obvious, but being gay ain't a trend or anything new. Maybe the way that certain sections of society choose to deal with sexuality is changing, but that is more of an evolution than a phase. Some people choose to use being 'gay' as a means of getting attention or trying assert their individuality. That's their choice and that'll always be there as long as there are fads and trends for people to cotton on to. However as I said being gay ain't really about a catchphrase or a passing phase it's about being true to yourself and having the freedom to have the kind of relationships you choose to have rather than what some ancient text or bunch of control freaks or zealots might say you 'need' to have.

Most people use the word "gay" as an adjective to describe something negative, but I don't think they necessarily mean it as an insult to the gay community. I'm gay but i use it all the time. Its just a fad, kinda like people used to say stuff like "that's radical!". Until the next catch phrase comes along, we'll be hearing and saying it and I don't think its a bad thing, they come and they go.

this year? Were you in a coma. I'm sorry if you were, not trying to be insensitive or anything. I'm gay and that phrase has been pissing me off for at least a six years.

I know, I never use it. Every time I hear someone say 'that's sooo gay' in the street I wanna punch 'em! I just don't like them using the word as it's only used as a negative nowadays.

kids use 'gay' as an adjective- not a positive one.
Oh, that's so gay. It's usually not even refering to sexuality. We need to stop them because it is a word that can be used to hurt others.

I hate that. What's next? I say "Lovely," whenever I encounter something very unpleasant. That's what's next.
