I was 3 centimeters for like a month with all my kids. With my second child, my mucus plug came out and after a week I still didn't go into labor. Don't worry; you'll know when you are in labor for real. It is unmistakable. The pressure is the baby moving down and angaging better in your pelvis. The cramping means yes, it will be soon. Once the contractions start (you will know when this is), call your doctor. They'll tell you what to do. If I were you, I'd call them anyway but chances are they will tell you like they tell everybody, "Don't come in yet, it's not time."

I was 1cm, 60% effaced, & -1 station on a Monday. Lost my mucous plug on a Tuesday. Went into labor on Thursday. Had a baby by Thursday night.

Is this your first baby? If it is and you're already 4 cm dialated, it'll probably be within the next 24 hours. If this is your 2nd baby, it could be a few more days. The text book answer about the mucous plug is within the next week. Sounds like you'll go sooner-- especially with the pressure and cramping.

Go get some sleep! Good luck!

You are in active labor now, especially if you are experiencing cramps and pressure. Call you doctor or the nurse advice line at the hospital you are going to deliver at and let them know you feel pressure. What ever you do, don't push even if you feel the urge too. Get medical advice or attention right away! I repeat, you are in active labor NOW!! Get to the hospital or call a doctor right away!

it'll probably start tomorrow or the next day. i went into labor probably aboutt wo rot hree days after i lost my plug. wouldn't go in until your contractions are about ten minutes apart. thats what the doctors reccomend. it took my contractions about 4 hours to get that close together. once your water breaks defiantely call the hospital, they'll elt you know if you need to come in.
