ARGUMENT #1-A: Simon LeVay And the Hypothalamus
DISPROVEN 17% OF LEVAY'S FINDINGS CONTRADICT HIS OWN CLAIMS.

ARGUMENT #1-B: Twins BY BAILEY&PILLARD
DISPROVEN.First, Pillard and Bailey's findings actually indicate that something besides genes must account for homosexuality. If 48% of identical twins, who are closely linked genetically, do NOT share the same sexual orientation, then genetics alone CANNOT account for homosexuality
, all of the twins Pillard and Bailey studied were raised in the same household.

ARGUMENT #1-C: Genes
is illogical in that it assumes inborn means normal or morally acceptable. That assumption is faulty, for 2 reasons:
First, "inborn" and "normal" are not necessarily the same
Second, inborn tendencies towards certain behaviors (like homosexuality) do not make those behaviors moral. They have also found that obesity, violence, alcoholism and adultery are found to be inborn from parents.Surely we're not going to say they are legitimate?

TO CHRIS EVEN IT IS INBORN WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE.

SAY HELLO TO JOE AGAIN FORMER PRO GAY THEOLOGIAN ACTIVIST AND PASTOR.

It assumes inborn means normal or morally acceptable . That assumption is faulty, for three reasons:

First, "inborn" and "normal" are not necessarily the same. Even if homosexuality is someday proven to be inborn, inborn does not necessarily mean normal. Any number of defects or handicaps, for example, may be inborn, but we'd hardly call them normal for that reason alone. Why should we be compelled to call homosexuality normal, just because it may be inborn?

Second, inborn tendencies towards certain behaviors (like homosexuality) do not make those behaviors moral. Studies in the past fifteen years indicate a variety of behaviors may have their roots in genetics or biology:obesity, violence, alcoholism and adultery.

Surely we're not going to say that obesity, violence, alcoholism and adultery are legitimate because they were inherited.

Third, we are a fallen race, born in sin

There are mental, psychological, physical and sexual aspects of our beings that God never intended us to have. "Inborn," in short, does not mean "divinely sanctioned."

We Truly Love Each Other. That Can't Be Wrong!"

The argument is misleading in that it assumes love sanctifies a relationship.

And with all the hatred and violence in the world, why knock a loving relationship between any two people? Because love, in and of itself, does not make a relationship right.

Love is not enough to justify a relationship.

A married man can fall deeply in love with a woman other than his wife; that will never sanctify adultery.

CASE CLOSED.

JOE IS A FORMER PRO-GAY ACTIVIST, THEOLOGIAN , AND PASTOR.

This questionnaire is for self-avowed heterosexuals only. If you are not openly heterosexual, pass it on to a friend who is. Please try to answer the questions as candidly as possible. Your responses will be held in strict confidence and your anonymity fully protected.

1. What do you think caused your heterosexuality?

3. Is it possible your heterosexuality is just a phase you may grow out of?

4. Could it be that your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex?

5. If youve never slept with a person of the same sex, how can you be sure you wouldnt prefer that?

6. To whom have you disclosed your heterosexual tendencies? How did they react?

7. Why do heterosexuals feel compelled to seduce others into their lifestyle?

8. Why do you insist on flaunting your heterosexuality? Cant you just be what you are and keep it quiet?

9. Would you want your children to be heterosexual, knowing the problems theyd face?

10. A disproportionate majority of child molesters are heterosexual men. Do you consider it safe to expose children to heterosexual male teachers, pediatricians, priests, or scoutmasters?

11. With all the societal support for marriage, the divorce rate is spiraling. Why are there so few stable relationships among heterosexuals?

12. Why do heterosexuals place so much emphasis on sex?

16. With the sexually segregated living conditions of military life, isnt heterosexuality incompatible with military service?

17. How can you enjoy an emotionally fulfilling experience with a person of the other sex when there are such vast differences between you? How can a man know what pleases a woman sexually or vice-versa?

18. Shouldnt you ask your far-out straight cohorts, like skinheads and born-agains, to keep quiet? Wouldnt that improve your image?

19. Why are heterosexuals so promiscuous?

20. Why do you attribute heterosexuality to so many famous lesbian and gay people? Is it to justify your own heterosexuality?

21. How can you hope to actualize your God-given homosexual potential if you limit yourself to exclusive, compulsive heterosexuality?

22. There seem to be very few happy heterosexuals. Techniques have been developed that might enable you to change if you really want to. After all, you never deliberately chose to be a heterosexual, did you? Have you considered aversion therapy or Heterosexuals Anonymous?

Determining whether something has a biological cause is difficult, and locating a specifically genetic link is even more so. The handful of studies that purportedly add up to incontestable "proof" that homosexuals are "born that way" are inconclusive at best and, as Dr. Rahman notes, "largely correlational in nature." In some cases, such as the twins studies, the evidence strongly indicates that early environment is more likely the dominant factor to have produced homosexual desires.

Okay let's get this 'straight'. Whether we are born with a pre determined sexuality or whether it is something we develop as we grow is about intelligent as do we come out of the womb fully developed able to speak, walk and fend for ourselves.

Yes there are certain characteristics that get passed down the genetic genepool. However sexuality is a complex issue that really should not be sidelined by science, bigotry and other distractions. The fact is sexuality is something we all have and is an intrinsic and integral part of us all. I don't need to read loads of stuffy text books to prove that. How we choose to conduct our relationships is, to a certain extent determined by how we are raised, what we believe to be important and what we feel about ourselves. Into that we can throw a whole load of genetic, social, environmental, psychological and all sorts of other issues into it. However sexuality exists, as does individuality. Yes we choose in our lives, but why shouldn't we? Why should we need to justify it any other way?

Scientists at UCLA have discovered 54 genes in mice which suggest that homosexuality may not be a choice as sexual identity is hard-wired into the brain before birth.

Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles, have reported that sexual identity and orientation is determined by genetics according to their findings released on Monday. The findings could mean that sexuality, including homosexuality and transgender sexuality, are not a matter of choice.

Dr Eric Vilain, a genetics, urology and pediatrics professor at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine, said in a statement: "Sexual identity is rooted in every person's biology before birth and springs from a variation in our individual genome," Reuters reports.

Dr Vilain and his team discovered 54 genes in mice, which they say may explain why male and female brains look and function differently, and control sexual orientation as well as the development of the sexual organs. The genes are produced in different amounts in male and female brains. Eighteen were produced at higher levels in the male brains and 34 were produced at higher levels in the female brains.

"Our findings may explain why we feel male or female, regardless of our actual anatomy," said Dr Vilain. The scientists plan to conduct further studies to determine the specific role for each of the 54 genes they identified.

For example, the two hemispheres of the brain appeared more symmetrical in females than in males. According to Dr Vilain, the anatomical difference may explain why women can sometimes articulate their feelings more easily than men.

The findings published in the latest edition of the journal Molecular Brain Research also rebuts 30 years of scientific dogma that the hormones, estrogen and testosterone, alone were responsible for differences between the male and female brain. Historically, the hormones were also thought to be responsible for sexual orientation.

While stressing the study was "not about finding the gay gene," Dr Vilain said “the first human implication will be to understand transexualism, which is different than homosexuality.”

Dr Vilain’s research also brings better understanding to transsexuals and offers a tool for gender assignment of babies born with ambiguous genitalia.

"If physicians could predict the gender of newborns with ambiguous genitalia at birth, we would make less mistakes in gender assignment," Vilain said.

According to the Reuters report, mild cases of malformed genitalia occur in one percent of all births while more severe cases, where doctors can't inform parents whether they had a boy or girl, occur in one in 3,000 births.

Dr Vilain added that finding the exact gene that results in homosexuality would require considerable more research and added that if future research does determine conclusively that homosexuality is genetic and not a choice, the implications would be huge.

"If it's not a choice, you can't have the typical conservative argument that says you choose this lifestyle so you have to bear the consequences and society has no reason to basically give you any rights because you choose to be an outcast," he said.
"If you can't do anything about it, therefore you should have all the rights to be integrated into society and have the same rights as heterosexuals in terms of marriage and the rights to inheritance."

At the same time, he worries that parents could misuse prenatal diagnoses and decide to abort a fetus if it was not going to have the type of behaviour they wanted, he says.

Last week, British psychologists from the University of East London and from King's College also said they have found strong evidence to support the theory that a person's sexuality is "hard-wired" into the brain before birth.

What the hell difference does it make whether homosexuality is "inborn" or not? There's nothing immoral about it. Case closed, moron.

Closetcoon, if you do decide to run your study and you need a control group, let me know. I'm "up" for it.

Here are the facts (observation by men in different locations). We don't know whether same sex preference is genetic or environmental. The operative words here are "We don't know".

Citing studies is not a proof. There is more physical evidence in favor of the genetic rather than environment. But we really don't know.

I saw a show this week on the Discover Heatth Channel about a set of twin boys in England. The doctor accidently cut ones penis off when they were babies, while cutting away the foreskin, so they told the parents to raise him as a girl & they did. The whole show was about the horrible problems this caused. They even let the twin that got his penis cut off tell most of it.
Both twins ended up committing sucide when they were grown. Don't know if any of this might help you out, maybe if you could see that show when it re-airs that might help you. The doctor tried to turn a boy into a girl, no one can do that but GOD!

Without proof of any kind to dispute your quotes, I believe that a person who is truly gay is that way from birth because as my best friend once asked a black priest who was trying to tell him that my friend wasn't gay, he just chose to live that "lifestyle", my friend Alex then asked him, "Did you chose to be black? You chose to be a priest but your skin color was chosen for you". Who in their right mind would want to live with the suffering that comes with trying to accept that you're so different from all those around you including your own family but you don't know why until after you're old enough to be sexually attracted to someone? So yeah, I believe it's a part of the person when they are born...

Seriously, don't say something like that. you don't know anything about our lives. how can someone contradict who you are? in all species, there have always been variations. and in this present case, it's attraction to same gender...
and anyway, what is moral for you? you are so moral that you judge other people who are not like you, huh? I don't understand people like you... you don't agree with someone's lifestyle? it's simple, shut the hell up and move on, it's none of your business.
you know, it's hard to understand what it is like to be attracted to same gender when you're not in it.
and oh, don't put irrelevant arguments just to seem intelligent a'ight? when you're not, it's easy to see
