I have tried preferences in the menu, then share a picture and yet it wont appear

...You mean to say your picture is shy ?! First time, I am hearing of an inanimate object expressing a very human emotion.
...Well, if you are asking about displaying your picture/icon in this Forum, it is really simple :
Go to your Messenger's menu, click on display image, select a pic to display, and tick on 'Share this image'. It will appear both in your Yahoo! Messenger, as well as Yahoo! Answers.
...No need to be 'shy' !!!

Are you perhaps very very ugly? That's the trouble I had. They made me put a picture of my dog in instead.

Maybe it IS shy...
either that, or you need a 360 picture.

the pic is too big to use as a yahoo answers avatar.... try downloading irfanview and resizing it smaller....
