Seeding refers to the ranking of players in tournaments. Suppose you are holding a tournament with no seedings. So, the players are to be plotted against each other arbitrarily. As a result, it is possible that Federer and Rafael play each other in the first round and 2 low ranked players enter the final! This would lead to a crash in interest of the game. Hence, the higher ranked players are seeded. With this seeding, it is assured that they wont face fellow high ranked players till the later rounds.
Yes, the seeding pattern is directly related to ranking. The players holding the top ranks in the world get a higher seed than those ranked below them. You must have noticed that Federer is seeded 1 in any tournament he plays. It is because he is the No.1 ranked player in the world. Ranking refers to the position of a player in the circuit. It depends on his performance. The more matches he wins, the better his rank gets. On the other hand seeding is the importance or priority of a player in a tournament. It depends on his/her rank. The higher a player is ranked the higher is his seeding.

N.B: Some tournaments (like Wimbledon) follow a different way to seed the participants. The players are seeded according to their performance in that tournament over the past years. Suppose, a player won the Wimbledon in 2005. However, in 2006 his rank has dropped to 50 or below due to injury. He will still get a high seed in Wimbledon 2006 (like 6 or 7) due to his excellent performance in 2005.

Hope you are now clear about seeding and ranking.

Rank is the overall performance indicator of a player in the season. It is same irrespective of the tournament.
But seed is dependent on the tournment and the seeding officer.
The officer decides the capability of the players based on the court conditions ...so that two good players in similar conditions donot encounter in earlier rounds.

For example Federer is seeded 1 in grass court and Nadal is seeded 1 in Clay court
And Federer is no 1 (Rank) during clay court encounters as well.

Buy one and get one free might already be old seed. I'd buy new. But I usually go for the turf. Be sure to keep it moist until it starts growing. Will October and November be warm months for you? If you are expecting a frost or freeze in Oct., it might be best to wait until next spring after the nights get back into the 70's. By the way, did the covering for the seeds to keep the birds off let in sun and water? Grass seeds need both.

seeding refers to the rank of the player in a tennis tournament. seeds are used so that the tournament can be arranged in a way that it would only be possible for the top two seeds to meet in the final round, none of the top four can meet until the semifinals, and so on.

it is related to rank in that rank is typically used to assign seed number. they sometimes do not correspond to the seed number; for example, if the number one ranked player does not play in a tournament but the number two ranked player does, the number two ranked player is considered the number one seed in the tournament.
