On the Google Toolbar itself, go to Options and then "Search Box Settings". There you can make it so the Toolbar never brings up your history as you're typing.
Alternatively you can, while typing, push the "down" arrow and delete selected entries that you don't want to have appear anymore (misspellings, etc.). I do that quite a bit.
To clear the entire history, you need to clear out the cache on your computer, which you can do via your browser (IE, Netscape, Firefox, whatever), usually in Properties or Options.

Have a close look at the icons on the tool bar. Can you see a small black upside down triangle at the side of every icon, well if you click on it a drop down menu will appear with all sorts of things on it.
The one you want is on the left of the search box. look for options and personalize your tool bar.
you can also highlight the search and press delete on your keyboard.

You can also go to tools>>internet options and delete cookies, temp files, and history.

click on 'options' and then the 'search' tab. Uncheck the first box that says 'save the search history across browser sessions'.
