I wonder if you ate paint chips.
Seriously?
because we can see the stars, and know for a fact that there are billions of stars. As for wet paint, people leave signs for wet paint up for days even after it has dried, painters don't care after the job is done.

I can think of two reasons:
1. If the paint is wet, you probably left a fingerprint in it... which I think is cool
2. If the paint isnt wet, you get to feel smarter than the person that told you it was

Because it's easy to dab the paint to test it but impossible to sit there and try to count stars.
