My 12 year old daughter started her period when she was age 10. And at age 10 she did her period once stopped for like 2 months then started again. Also whenever she has her period she says she feels uncomfortable as if she has stains of blood on her pants and feels dirty. I tell her to change at school but she says she has no time since even at lunch it's always full. And by the time the line gets shorter lunch is over. The teachers don't let her go to the restoom either I write her a note or not. What do I do???

I'm native american indian i will refer to it as her moontime My daughter is 14 yrs old and she just started her moontime and their are times when she will have an accident I'm just learning this stuff but I let her deal with it so I'm not embarrassing her my daughter carries extra clothes to school in a backpack and she leaves it in her locker and extra pads and under garments maybe you need to have a talk with the principal about this issue so your daughter isn't embarassed for the accidents she may have during school your daughter has chocies let her deal with them so she is comfortable and not embarrassed or you can fix her a small back pack and say this is for your personal items and moontime accidents and trust her that she will do the right thing have a one on one with the principal and insist they let her take care of business !!! P.S. or file a complaint with the school superviser

I had a teacher like that , so I got up and left, there are somethings a girls needs to do immediately when having a period and if you don't mind her getting in a little trouble over that then tell her it's ok, it's better than getting up from the seat with a blood spot on it and the kids making fun of her. Or try the extra heavy pads, or if you allow tampons then have her were one and then a pad so if she leaks there is something to catch it or she can quickly go to the restroom and remove then she has the pad already there. Every girl is different some have heavy and some do not. Or you can have her prepare the night before with having everything in order for her classes so she can make a quick pit stop and not have to worry about stopping by a locker or something.

First of all teachers don't have a right to tell you you can't go to the bathroom. At 12 she should be old enough to know when she has to go or not, reguardless of "bells". Go ahead an write her a note I suppose. She should be changing her pads and or tampons at least once a day while at school or whenever she feels the need. I started my period at age 9 when I was in 4th grade. It's a difficult thing to have it so young.

She should change before lunch, but after class. The stopping is not irregular because the period needs to even out the first couple of years. There will be embarrassing times (you need to be there and gently remind her to be prepared in advance) and there will be easier times as she gets back into the school schedule. If none of this works, then talk to a counselor or teacher (preferably a woman) and ask her for her input about this situation.

It's normal to feel dirty when wearing pads...it's gross. Since she's so young, she may not be comfortable wearing tampons. But, it may be worth a try to "double up" with a tampon and a pad.

I can't believe that she can't get into the bathroom. Is it that she can't get in, or is she socializing then forgetting to get there until lunch is almost over? Is there a bathroom in the nurse's office? It's probably available during lunch.

As for the hormones and skipped periods...perfectly normal for her age.

I would write a note and if that does not work go too the school and pay them a visit..some times when us parents are persistant with the situations at school it may take us a while but, it will work then next time a problem comes up get in contact again. by then they will know that you are not going too give up and trust me they will start working with you as a parent it worked for me.. and you are only looking out for your kids best intrest.

tell your daughter to just get up and get out, if the teacher didnt let her got to the restroom. the teacher has no right to say NO if somebody wants to go to the restroom. If your you daughter gets in trouble for doing that then you go personally and tell the PRINCIPAL about the situation.(TEACHERS SHOULD UNDERSTAND SPECIALLY IF ITS AN EMERGENCY!)
