is it just me? i am totatly into 80's rock. i dont know y, and im only 14, its real good though, i got most of my friends into it. now its spreading around our school like wildfire, and i dont like that more people like it, it is weird, i mean, i started the whole thing on accident and now its outta control. i just dont want it to get overplayed and stuff. any way i can prevent this? is this happening to other kids too? with 'thier' own music gets real popular?

Its the 20 year rule. For the 70's it was 50's nostalgia-i.e. ShaNaNa, Happy Days, Grease etc... In the 80's it was 60's nostalgia-i.e. Flower children, rainbow festivals, Jullian Lennon etc... 90's > 70's Lennie Kravitz, That 70's show, Bell Bottom jeans, Brady Bunch Movie...
Basically boils down to you are influenced by your parents and their peers who grew up during that time. it's notrhing new and you didn't start it, But you will help it run it's course. See you in twenty years when we're listening to P.Diddy and Jet on the oldies station

Haha! I'm into 80's music too, but I was your age back then! As people look for something new it's common to look back to the past which in a way is new too since it's so long ago. Believe it or not in the 80's there was 60's nostalgia and in the 70's they had 50's nostalgia. Plus the fact that good music can come from ANY age/decade. PLUS the fact that teenagers are very herd-like in their behavior and trends/fads can catch on very quickly among a group.

lmfao oh my god you kids, (points and snickers at you) I'm a 70's and 80's child; my mom took me to Woodstock in 1969 and i still listen to that music plus my blend. that's good that you and your friends are listening to 80's music; lord knows its better than puke street boys and nstink lmao , go with the flow and pick certain performers you actually like. me i grew up with the clash, Sid vicious, Wendy o Williams, then total hair metal like van halen, metallica, poison not to mention jimi hendrix, the doors, and cream lol. i even remember listening to the stray cats any one remember the stray cat strut ?
