In theory, would it be genetically possible for aliens and humans to have fairly normal babies together? Happens alot in comics.

I believe that even though Superman was an alien, his father Jor El sent him to earth with the recognition that in some ways, earthlings and kryptonians were similar. In one of the movies, Jor El is more concerned with the state of our cultural evolution than he is with the physical or genetic differences that his son will encounter on earth. This suggests that the Kryptonians knew their galaxy, had studied its inhabitants and maybe found that all highly developed life forms on some planets came from similar sources and effectively were not that genetically different.

Perhaps the Kryptonians were a Genesis race who had seeded the earth themselves and had seeded other planets throughout the galaxy and thus knew there was little genetic difference between earthlings and humans.

So, maybe Jor El understood that his son Kal El was advanced, but was in many ways also very similar to mankind. This, of course fits Superman into the nice mythological archetype of the man-god, come to redeem mankind from his fallen, lesser evolved ways...which, I think was the whole point of Superman in the first place.

If you recall, in Superman 2, he used the crystal chamber to become human. He was shown sleeping with Lois before that, but perhaps they also slept together afterwards. So he may have had artificially human dna at that time. But that should preclude junior from having powers, so my answer isn't 100% correct, but is maybe a step closer.

In comics, yes. and we all know how closely comics are to real life! In the real world, the answer is no.
Proof? Horses and Donkeys, very closely related, can have offspring, but that offspring is sterile.
Horses and Moose, very closely related, but only one recorded instance of offspring.
Polar bears and grizzly bears, very closely related, but only one recorded instance of offspring
Pigs and humans, very closely related, only one recorded instance of offspring, (my ex)
OK, maybe that was uncalled for. The point is, there has to be a very close relationship in genetic make-up for offspring to be produced, and even amongst creatures from the same planet there is enough diversity that cross species fertilization is practically non existent.

Uh number 1 it's Just a comic Book. Number two. Kryptonians and Human DNA is very much the same in form and Likeness so I would say that Kryptonian sperm is compatable with Human Eggs.

My physics teacher explained this...
Superman is actually a human from another planet, Krypton.

He has super strength on Earth because of the gravity on Krypton is much greater than the gravity on Earth.

So his body is conditioned to the greater gravity and the low gravity on Eath let's him do "incredible" things.

Kinda like when astronauts were on the moon and they could jump really high and hit a golf ball incredibly far.

It's because of the differing gravities.

So if he is just a human...he can have babies with other humans.

He can't as there are too many problems involved.

Look up the article "Man Of Steel, Woman of Kleenex" by Larry Niven; He goes into this problem at length.

Because it's a movie and someone made it up. Don't overthink it. You have to have the same dna to reproduce. Chimps and Humans share 99.5% of the same dna and they can't have babies. [shudder]
Thank god.

In order to have kids with humans, Superman must give up his superpowers and his immortality.
