Jeeezzzzz........ Since when was math equated to unit conversions? This is a new low

8.42m = .00842 km
12.6 m = 1260 cm
24000 cm = .24 km
651 m = 651000 mm

3000 + 142 + 1.5 = 3143.5 m
(And I didn't even use a calculator. Guess the Alzheimers isn't acting up too badly today ☺)

8.42m = 0.00842 km
12.6 m = 1260 cm
24000 cm = 0.24 km
651 m = 651000 mm

3km + 142m + 150cm
= 3000m+142m+1.5m
=3143.5 m

Probably this is what you need:
1Km=1000m
1m=100cm=1000mm
