Installing the Wi-Fi Adapter
Once you have downloaded the drivers installing them is as easy as any other Pocket PC application. Simply launch the installer application and confirm the install. It is important to install the drivers prior to inserting your card for the first time especially given that the Xda II comes with Socket drivers pre-installed.

The adapter itself is very light and really quite small, however, it does protrude from the device some way. I am very conscious of walking around with the Xda II in my pocket when the adapter is inserted, as I am sure that one nasty bang would leave me with a single card in two pieces.

An indicative photo of just how far it protrudes is shown to the right (using one of SanDisk's promotional images, which features a hp iPAQ) - unfortunately, it really does protrude quite some way, and this could be considered somewhat of a drawback. Future devices with inbuild Wi-fi will certainly have the advantage in this regard.

Getting Online
After you have installed the drivers, you simply need to insert the card into your Xda II and the card will start to search for local access points. If you are on the Today screen you will notice a new icon in the system tray in the bottom left corner of your device that shows the status of your wireless connectivity.

Hopefully once you have entered the card and an access point has been found a small bubble will pop-up asking you which network to connect to and whether it connects you to your work or Internet connection.

If the connection is not automatically established you are able to manually enter the details of your desired access point using the Connections applet.
(Start > Settings > Connections > Connections icon > Advanced > Wireless > Add new settings). Here you can enter the SSID, WEP key etc for the desired access point

You will need a wireless access point router Cost $30-$200. Then you will need Wireless Lan Card Cost $10-$100. And as far as setting it up read the instructions. Cost depends on what speed you want. Ebay has cheap stuff. I recently sold a Linksys 802.11b access point with 2 wirless nics for $53 on E-bay that was about 1/3rd what i paid for it a few years ago.
