my daughter was less than 2 months old and my life had totally changed from being a 40+ job to full-time mom with nursing hormones and still healing from complications in the baby's delivery, etc. so my body was screwed up big time hormonally as well as from delivery trauma. I was holding this crying baby in my arms, trying to soothe her while watching the TV in shock and thinking "WHAT have I brought her into?" It was totally, totally awful. I called my mom who lived 4 states over, and we talked about what we would do if the phone systems went down or we couldn't contact each other due to more attacks. Remember that we didn't know who did it for a long time; nobody knew who did it or why, nobody knew if there were more attacks on the way, or where they would be. Mostly, I just kept thinking what a world to bring this new baby into....

I was in at the doctor's office. I went in right after the 1st jet hit the WTC. I got some prescriptions and was paying the receptionist when they said a 2nd jet had hit it. I said 'Oh my God, we are at war.' The receptionist asked me why, I said one jet could be an accident, 2 hitting the wtc is an act of aggression.
I got in my van and my hands were shaking. I got to work and was sent home. By the time I got home, the 2nd tower had collapsed. The rest is a blur.
I think I saw the 1st jet, I was driving down the Hudson River, and I remember thinking that I did not remember ever seeing a jet fly there.

I thought the US was at war but I wasn't sure with whom. Both civilians and military facilities had been attacked, with casualties. It was brutal and senseless attack, and with the attack on civilians, total war was committed by an unknown enemy on America. As a veteran, I knew somebody was going to receive reprisal. but I had no idea who that somebody might be.

we were all scared....my first thought was disbelief....and i thought it was the start of the end of the world as we know it....
it was such a beautiful day....i thought how could this happen on this beautiful day...not a day to die...not a day for murder...not a day for tears....but it was. no one will ever forget that day..no matter where they were. if you are an american, 911 is a day for memory and prayers for the victims..

All I had was maybes all over my head. I really couldn't think of anything because I don't know who was at fault, them or us. So I just had a big " " blank in my mind. Just tried to soak it up and mourn.

what was happening??? Horror when people started running and screaming for their life.
When I saw the pictures of the people that leaped to their death my mind could not even process this horrible event. My body froze and then weeped for those who were victims of this attack and their families.

Shock, disbelief, dismay, anger,
I think I'm more scared now, than I was then. Because if we were all truthful we know it will happen again, we just don't know where, when, or how.
