I've been having cramps ever since I thought I was going to get my period but then I found out I'm about 6 weeks pregnant. I get these cramps that last for a few seconds but then I'm fine. I know cramping results from the uterus stretching but I'm only 6 weeks...it can't be stretching that much. Is this normal or common? & How can I prevent or treat them? They aren't severe & there's no bleeding or spotting.

Its very common for women in their early pregnancies to have period like cramps. I had it for nearly 15wks and im now 25 wks along. U can also get sudden pains and and cramps anywhere in the stomach and abdominal area. Believe me u will get all these weird little pains that u have never felt before. Its purely normal.

Get it checked out though if you have EXTREME lower back pain or the pain becomes extreme in the front accompanied with blood.

You could also be having gas pains. I noticed very similar pains when I was bloated and full of gas. Unfortunately this is just something (if it's gas) that you'll have to deal with for the rest of pregnancy. I swear we get gas from drinking water!! If the pain becomes severe, or there is bleeding that accompanies it, see your doctor. If not, then you can take a couple of Ibuprofen and drink plenty of water. Ask your doctor about something to prevent gas in the future, like Bean-o. Good luck!! =)

They really aren*t cramps it is your ligiments stretching to make room for your growning baby. Perfectly normal. But if you notice any spotting or the cramping becomes unbearable see a dr. asap...p.s. best of luck to you <3
