Yes, I practice abstinance. I do believe in God, but the reasons for my abstinance include more practical considerations. Sex creates a physical and metaphysical bond between two people - depending on the minds of those involved, this may create a great deal of attachment (and it definitely would in me). Knowing my tendency to become attached to members of the opposite sex without sex, I definitely want to be sure this one isn't about to disappear before I put out. Another thing: anyone I do not respect enough not to have sex to keep her pure, I respect myself enough not to have sex with that person. Of course, that, like everything else, is somewhat relative and subject to change. But I do think it is our highest calling to remain celibate outside of marriage.

My sexuality is pretty much linked to the moods of my bipolar disorder. When I'm depressed, sex is just not in my mind or heart. When I am manic, I tend to get hypersexual and it can get me into trouble. For the past few years, I've been abstaining from sex with other people because I'm not ready for a new relationship. I will masturbate if I feel like it which has been 3 times in the past 2 years. It really hasn't been hard, which is surprising because a lot of my life was centered around sex. My religion does not limit sex in any way, except that it must be legal, consenting and honest. I have never had a problem with drugs so i don't know if I could handle getting off them but I know I can't stay away from computer games or Yahoo Answers so I think i must have an addictive personality.

It means many of us don't care about Obama's abstinence. Look at our abstinence only education now and do you think that has anything to do with the increased pregnancy rates?

My mother has not had sex in 10 years and says she has no desire to. My daughter has never had sex, and plan to save that special moment for the man she marries. Anybody can be sexually active but it take a special person, to be independent enough to not be sexually active. As for me I have practiced being abstinent , because a woman's body becomes depleted if she has to much sex, it is not healthy, the body need time to replenish itself. You can just about look at a women a tell if she is easy, you know what I mean.

I do by choice, not so religious in that I don't go to Sunday services but I DO believe in God 1000%...However, my reason for maintaining celibacy is simply that it takes an unusual person for me to be attracted to and they don't come by very often...after a marriage that lasted 18 yrs, the last 9 of which were spent seperated, it wasn't hard at all to do since I was untrusting of men
in general after I left him, yep, the usual, he cheated on me and said he might do it again but wasn't sure, and I really didn't notice the lack of sex in my life until a very unusual guy crossed my path after my divorce was finalized after almost making it to 19yrs married, we seperated on friendly terms because I don't believe in beginning or maintaining animosity, if it's over it's over and move on, ya know. I'm also not attracted to the body at all until after I've discovered the person behind the eyes and the smile. After I've gotten to know them then the sex drive may or may not kick in until after he has let me know he's interested in me first or not, but I gotta say, the sex when you do have it after a long period of abstaining is GREAT!!!!!!! You get turned on in ways you never would have thought possible and of course the inhibiton levels are a WHOLE LOT LOWER so once you get started you really get to explore which in and of itself is OUT OF THIS WORLD if you've never had the opportunity to do something like that before, which I hadn't and so yeah, it was just the BEST!!!!!!! THat was abstinence from 02-12-96 until 9-14-03 which is the date I was first with the next guy and our relationship lasted until 07-26-04...I've been celibate since then and it's still a breeze...In fact, I'm looking forward to not being celibate because of how great I know it's going to be but that also makes me want to draw out the length of the celibacy even longer!!!!! Of course, I have no idea how long it will be, IF EVER AGAIN? before I might meet the right guy who can be special to me...I've been told that I'm too picky but hey, discerning is a good thing too...I've NEVER, knock on wood!!!, NEVER had an STD and NEVER WANT TO!!!
I'll continue to practice the same as I do now...All of course, by the GRACE of GOD!!!!
