Washington DC, in class.
What did I think? That this cannot be real. We cannot be getting attacked. We are America, that does not happen here. Then I realized I was in the middle of it and prayed they hadn't closed the Metro yet.

I was home with my (then) preschoolers, doing laundry. They were watching Sesame Street on TV and threw a fit when I changed the channel to see what was happening. I remember grabbing both of them up in my arms, trembling, crying, and praying aloud for the passengers of Flight 93, that they would have the courage and strength to overtake the hijackers. I'm sure the kids thought I was nuts, but I didn't care.
Something inside me changed that day. I think now, years later, that I am still grieving over it all.

I had literally just moved from NY to Phoenix 3 days before and was in a hotel room with my family looking for a place to live. My sister called me up at 7 am (AZ time) immediately after plane one hit and told me "turn on CNN we are under attack!" and I watched the whole thing from the second plane on on tv for days, feeling like I wanted to go home to NY because I have been in all those buildings before and I'm a NY native and I was crying for the city. The plane I came in on was one going from NY to LA just like the ones that were used so I guess we were lucky to leave when we did.

I was home getting the kids ready for school. Turned on the TV just as the second plane hit, at that moment it was obvious we were being attacked. I was very scared and I remember trying to explain to my kids what was going on. Felt like a zombie all day. I remember how weird it was to not see any planes in the sky that day. I will NEVER forget!

I was up watching the 700 club with the TV evangelist Pat Robertson. I have to admit this was scary cuz I thought the planes were coming to my home town also. I live just across the DC line and thought damn, at least give me a chance to get out of dodge!

I was at work. I answered the phone and it happened to be one of the salesmen. He was at a clients home and they had the TV on. The client asked if he'd like to notify us at work about what was happening. We immediately put the TV into the technician check-in area and all stood around watching in utter shock. I remember the phones rang very little that day. Most of the few calls that came in were from family wondering if we were aware of what was happening.

I was blow-drying my hair getting ready for work and running REALLY late. My dad came to my apartment and said "They ran two planes into the Twin Towers and one in the Pentagon" and ran to my tv. I thought he was smoking crack again. I went to work and watched the coverage on tv there and was scared to death. I kept thinking...this is what my grandparent's must have felt like during Pearl Harbor. I am a worrier and I honestly thought it was the end of world. I felt like that blanket of security I snuggled around every night was ripped off of me. Actually I don't have that blanket anymore...

I work in a hospital and i was with a patient and we kept hearing all these crazy stories...no one really paid attention until the 2nd plane hit...then everything stopped...we put a radio on loud in the waiting room and just listened...they were on the verge of evacuating the hospital..it was scary.
