Not being able to sleep is just awful! TRY clear your head...picture a big blank grey wall ...nothing else then go through (mentally) & relax every muscle from your toes all the way up, one section at a time all the way to your fingertips then back up & to the top of your head.
A girl scout leader talked a group of us through this in camp one year & I've been doing it since then (more years than I will admit) & SOMETIMES it works like a charm.

Let the bed support you, with each breath sink deeper and deeper into the mattress. If you can get this concept then it should be easy to fall asleep.

Drink some night tea or play some smoothing music or take a shower to relax or dip in the pool.

A glass of red wine helps.
Theanine or Valerian may help.

go in and run a nice hot bath hons. 2 while inn tubb com;letely relaxx, 3 get things out of your mind, relaxx your breathiing prob;lemm 4-- after relaxing in, tub, get out completely dry off and turn on a fan or air conditiong unit really low seting crawl under shetss in the nude dont werar pinchy clothes, stretch out in your bed and snoze hons!!

close your eyes. and dont open no matter what
turn off the lights
and breathe in with your nose, and out w/ your mouth

also try not to think and overanalyze things before sleep

a nice bath w/lavender helps..as does chamomile tea...deep breathing is always good...reading the most boring book usually gets me nodding off...golf, math...physics..z.z.z.z.z
