Everyone experiences it a little differently. I can't stress enough the importance of regular exercise. If you can get in 30 minutes of walking at least six days a week, it will help make your symptoms less severe. Some people barely have symptoms at all, others have severe ones. I had 40 or 50 hot flashes a day. It was disturbing enough that I decided to use a low-dose estrogen patch and low-dose progesterone to keep them away. It has worked fine for five years. I am aware of some of the risks of extended estrogen use, but to me it's a quality of life issue, and I'm willing to take the risk.

Talk to women who have been through menopause and you'll feel better informed.
