Is the dress white or ivory, there is a big difference. It also really depends on the formality of the dress here.
Gold or silver would be safe, just use whichever one is the color of your jewelry.
If it's nicer and/or more formal dress, you would have to add another accessory for a complete look in another color besides the dress color. Having just your shoes stand out can look too casual. If it's a more casual dress, then you wouldn't have to worry about it.
If it's a pure white dress, the colors can be more bold than if it's an ivory dress. Nothing clashes with white, you can use any color you want. Soft pastel tones can have a fresh, flirty, Spring look, while darker and bolder colors can look more dramatic. If it was me, I would go with black for a formal dress, black and white is a classic sophisticated look. If it's a casual dress, I would go with red to stand out.
Ivory is a slightly warmer tone than white, so look for light peach, pale grassy green, soft brown, or other earthy shades. Stay away from really bright colors, the undertones of ivory won't always match the tones of the other color.
Remember to match your stockings too for a longer, leaner looking leg.
Dark shoes = dark hose.
Light shoes = light hose.

depending on the style of the dress depends on the shoe, EX: like if it is an ivory vintage dress a pair of navy blue or crushed rose suede pimps would go really nice and if you can accessorize with a clutch that blends in the color family you will really be in style , the key is to add color to the dress without over stating it you don't want to take the attention off the dress itself and more importantly you , but you want to accent it nicely

Anything in a light creamy color (tan, taupe, etc) or a neutral tone. Especially flattering is something close to the color of your skin with an white or ivory dress.

Most shoe colors in pastel ranges will work especially if satin with a lacey overlay of the appropriate color to match the dress. Or shoe accessories like flowers, jewels etc.

Any color but black or gray. It's white/ivory! Go wild. Wear red if you want to. I would.

If you want bold style, try teal. Wanna play it safe? try rosy pink. Think of it like this, if you mixed red with ivory, what color would it be? It would be a soft red, so basically every color works!

Forget the color of the dress, carry a purse that matches the shoes. Black, brown, or any shade of beige would work. I hope this helps.

I like the first answer. A neutral tone like beige would work. You might be able to get away with black patent leather (although that might give a Shirley Temple impression).

well, if you really wanna POP, you should go with a red shoe. that would be hot! if the dress is quite plainish, just about any shoe will look great if you wear jewelry that compliments the shoe. ya know what i mean?

You can have fun with this. If the dress is simple, you can go with just about any color. Red is really chic.
