the flooding of the nile each was a huge one. Every year the nile would over flood and irrigate the lands...thats why the Egyptians worshipped the nile, it was their main source of water. With the crops, they were able to trade and im pretty sure they travelled on it too and traded on it. They had slaves to work the land which was free labor. When the nile didnt flood, they were dependent on other nations nearby to supply them with the food they needed. Trade was HUGE

When Nasser was the leader, he created a strong economy and converted egypt in to an industrialized nation. That brought about money, and energy as well as giving lots of people work.
another thing was that they controlled the suez canal, which was a HUGEEE benifit for them. every ship from other countries that didnt want to go around africa to trade with india would pay a fee to use the suez canal which saved a TON of time.

everything kinda went to hell though after they started fighting israel. they got their butts kicked and their economy was destroyed.
