Why do they make those bags so small it takes a rocket scientist to fit them back in the bag?

First you have to learn to fold a map!

Stretching and trapped air in the tent make it a pain to put them back in their storage bag.

there's a thing called patience if you can find it, the tent will go back into the bag easily

You have to carefully fold the tent, squeezing out all the air as you go. Give it a try now.
