I think the longest I would commute is 2 hours.
I have a friend who is a flight attendant and they worked out of Sydney, Australia. However they lived in Phuket, Thailand. It would take them over 12 hours of air travel just to get to work! Not including travel time to and from the airport. Nightmare.

You've got a problem. At that rate the car won't last very long, which means you will need to replace it regularly - which means being able to pay or arrange finance regularly. You'll also cop for several servicing bills each year. Diesel or hybrid would cut costs. I've just gone diesel, which has cut petrol costs significantly. The service interval is also very long. You might want to consider something with a reputation for long life, which means avoiding some of the cheaper makes. As you're in the UK I'm assuming you don't have affordable or workable public transport available.

I agree with Indigo. I used to live in a city where I would commute 60 miles easy as traffic wasn't as bad. Recently, I would up quitting a job after little more than a year because although it was only 30 miles away, that was a 90 minute commute in the city I now reside in.
That is because Chicago is run by people very antagonistic towards suburban commuters.

Distance is irellevant. I wouldn't spend more than an hour, max, getting there so it depends on traffic.
