3(x-2) = 6(5+x)
the first step to solving these problems is to simplify
3(x-2) is the same as 3x - 2 if you don't believe me substitute x with a number
3(3-2) = 3*1 or 9 minus 6 which both equal 3
so multiply out first
you should then have
3x-6=30+6x
get the xs on one side
the expressions on both sides are equal so if you add or subtract the same thing to both sides that answer remains the same.
you then have -3x-6=30
move the six to the right
-3x=36
divide both sides by 3
x= -12
then you can plug -12 back into the equation and check your answer
3(-12-2)=6(5-12)
3(-14)=6(-7)
-42=-42 so x is definently 12

now just the work for the next question
-(x-1)+10= -3(x-2)
-x+1+10=-3x+6
2x+11=6
2x=-5
x=-5/2

3 (x - 2 ) = 6 ( 5 + x )

First, expand the algebraic phrases on the left and
on the right, then we can begin. So

3x - 6 = 30 + 6x

Next transpose the x's to one side and the integers
to the other side. Note: when you cross the equals
sign, you change the sign of what you are doing.

So: -6 -30 = 6x - 3x

You can now combine by addition so that:

-36 = 3x
and
if you divide by 3 to simplify
- 12 = x

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

-(x - 1) + 10 = -3(x - 2)

first expand so we can combine.

- x + 1 + 10 = - 3x + 6

now combine where possible

- x + 11 = -3x + 6

And move all the x's to one side, and the integers to
the other side (crossing = sign you change the sign...

So - x + 3x = +6 - 11

and 2x = -5
x = - 2 1/2

3(x - 2) = 6 (5 + x)

3x - 6 = 30 + 6x

The distributive property on both sides of the equation

3x - 6 - 3x = 30 + 6x - 3x

Subtracting - 3x from both sides of the equation

- 6 = 30 + 3x

-6 - 30 = 30 + 3x - 30

Subtracting - 30 from both sides of the equation

- 36 = 3x

- 36/3 = 3x/3

Dividing 3 from both sides of the equation

-12 = x

The answer is x = - 12

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

- (x - 1) + 10 = -3(x - 2)

-x + 1 + 10 = - 3x + 6

removing parenthesis on the left side of the equation and the distributive property on the right side of the equation.

- x + 11 = - 3x + 6

Collecting like thems on the left side of the equation

- x + 11 + x = - 3x + 6 + x

Adding + x to both sides of the equation

11= -2x + 6

Collecting like terms of the right side of the equation

11 - 6 = - 2x + 6 - 6

Subtracting - 6 from both sides of the equation

5 = - 2x

5/- 2 = - 2x/- 2

Dividing -2 from both sides of the equation

- 5/2 = x

- 2.5 = x

The answer is x = - 2.5

There are some many times used regulations for specific varieties of applications, consisting of searching for "first variations" and "2nd variations" etc. those seem as though (with any luck) quadratic applications, so which you would be able to attempt to in good shape a function of y= Ax^2+Bx+C. to try this, p.c.. the 1st, fourth and final factors to style 3 equations (difficulty a million) x=0, C=a million x=3: 9A+3B+a million= 37 x=5: 25A+5B+a million= 111 then 45A+15B+5=185 (5x the x=3 eqtn) 75A+15B+3=333 (3x the x=5 eqtn) subtract: 30A -2 = 148 and A=5 B=-3. So y= 5x^2-3x+a million

Dear txpyxie's "daughter",

3(x- 2) = 6(5+ x)
3x- 6 = 30+ 6x
3x- 6- 3x- 30 = 30+ 6x -3x -30
-36 = 3x
3x = -36
3x/3 = -36/3
x = -12
--- --- ---
-(x- 1)+ 10 = -3(x- 2)
-x+ 1+ 10 = -3x+ 6
-x+ 11 = -3x+ 6
-x+ 11+ 3x- 11 = -3x+ 6+ 3x- 11
-x+ 3x = 6- 11
2x = -5
2x/2 = -5/2
x = -5/2

First problem:
3(x-2)=6(5+x)
3x-6=30+6x
-3x -3x
0-6 = 30+3x
-6 = 30 + 3x
-30 -30
-36 = 3x
3 3
-12 = x

Second problem:
-1(x-1)+10=3(x-2)
-1x +9 = 3x+-6
+1x +1x
9 = 4x +-6
+6 +6
15 =4x
4 4
3.3 = x

you do what is called distributive property...its when you take the numbers on the outside of the parenthesis and multiply them by the numbers inside...

3(x-2)= 6(5+x)
3x - 6= 30 + 6x

now you have multiplied the numbers on the outside, and you have what are called common terms...the 3x and 6x are common because they both end in x right...so you are trying to get an x on one side alone, so subtract one, and do the same for the other common terms.

3x-6=30+6x
9x-6=30
9x=36

now, to get the x alone, you divide by 9, because that is the opposite of multiplying..

x=4

-----------------------------------------------
-(x-1) + 10=-3(x-2)

this is the same as:

-x-1+10=-6x+6
two negatives make a positive, which is why -3 times -2 is positive 6.

add like terms, the -1 and 10

-x+9=-6x+6

combine the common terms like last time

-x=-6x+15
5x=15
x=3
-------------------------------------------------

i hope this helped, and that nobody else answered this faster than me because it was hard to type. i understand what its like tho not to understand, for years i didnt understand math. tell your son to keep trying and that with practice he will get it soon enough. good luck, and ps thats really cool that you thought to ask on yahoo questions...my mom doesnt even know what yahoo questions are..lol!

3(x-2) = 6(5+x)
3(x-2+2)=6(5+x)+2
3x=6(5)+x+2
3x= 32+x
3x+x = 32+x-x
4x=32

x= 8

-(x-1)+10=-3(x-2)
-(x-1)+10-10= -3(x-2)-10
-(x-1)= -13(x-2)
-(x-1+1) = -13(x-2)+1
-x = -12(x-2)

x= 12(x-2)

The second one was tricky. But I know I got the first one right.
