Because it is another language.

because there is 2 different dictionnaries in english.

I know a lot of Americans think they are the center of the world and only them know the way.... but surprise....

There is a Canadian/classic English dictionnary and an American dictionnary.

The Canadian and English one tend to write the words the «old» way... closer to the roots of where they come from... Some words originate from French because the royals in england were french for a long period of time in england. That had an influence on their language.

another good exemple: colour and color...

So they are not wrong... but just different! Wow... I know it's an amazing discorvery to know that the world doesn't end after the American border and that your way may not actually be the only right way. Rocks your world doesn't it... just don't declare war on Canada because of it... well you can always say we have weapons of mass destruction that you never found!!!

A us short ton (2000 pounds) is not the same thing as a tonne. That's not a mistake in spelling.

Hey Chuckey,

We are the ones that spell
it wrong, remember that
that the English Language
was originated in England,
the United Kingdom.

We have decided to spell
things a different way,
but the British favour
their way of spelling.

Have a great weekend!

It's English. Americans changed the language and spell things differently.

What, you think you are the centre of the universe? Take your catalogue of spelling words to the centre of the harbour, and YOU learn to spell. When you are done, I will take you the theatre to celebrate.

We don't spell our words wrong. That is the proper way to spell it. But americans are usually lazy with thier spelling and words. So they spell it "Favorite"

Where's your sense of humour, eh? Not to mention your knowledge of history! Do us all a favour and exercise the Google button! It's Americans who managed to collectively become spelling doofusses and continue to be metric morons to boot (not trunk)!

Who's to say were right. We took the Queen's English and pretty much basterdized it to what we have today.

Considering English came from England, you may want to rethink your statement.

P.S.: I am American
