He is academically bright at school, and have excellent memory ( he can recite word for word a book he read) but when it comes down to writting or expressing himself in a creative way - he seems stuck for words and ideas - although if you ask him how to spell and meaning of a certain word he is very good at it.

Any ideas will be much appreciated - I am his father and I used to have the same problem so I understands how he feels but just feel so helpless as I am not much better..

Most children learn through play and you need to encourage the play more and not the books/tv/computor. He is academically good so no problem there he just need to play like imagination games/football/art buy some paints and paper let him do this at home./cooking yes i did say cooking/have a sleep over party for him and his friends and use a theme, pirates or something like that/smaller toys such as soldiers or what ever he is in too. I now how difficult it is in this day of computor ect but he really needs to play to bring out his creative side.Once his play side comes out so will his writing as the more he does he could write about the things he has done. Keeping a diary can be fun but may be a little young for that. What about a day out and then ask him to write all about it or ask him to write what he would like to do for the day if money and time was no issue. Just thought and may help.

Make up a image document the place he has to tell you what the tale is of the image. What thoughts the human beings or animals are feeling probable and the tale in the back of that. Have him inform you fractured fairy memories, Raol Dahl's are hilarious so he can get the assumption. Shel Silversteins' youngster's books are very innovative and might help with poetry as can books by making use of Robert Munsch, Dennis Lee- Alligator Pie comprises techniques, as does rubbish delight. discover stupid song for him to hearken to that's age suitable, Sharon, Lois and Bram is a sturdy place to start. Have him draw, paint , sculpt pictures yet he has to place in writing the tale of what is going on in them so which you would be able to study. they would be great keepsakes whilst he has little ones of his own. Papa you should attempt to be greater descriptive and innovative with him . end a movie or a comic strip and you 2 arise with an option ending. Draw cartoons jointly and make up the debate and memories. don't be aggressive do it jointly, who knows what you will arise with.

Maybe he feels too much pressure, or maybe he needs more time to put it in the exact words he wants to use. At his age, maybe he's got his mind on other things. I'm glad that he's smart though. I'm sure he will develop into a great and successful human being. Good Luck.

Turn off the tv and video games. Take him to a park and have a "drawing contest" about what you see... or a poem contest. If you make it a challenge, he may have a competive side and will challenge him to be creative. Plus, its a great bonding time.

This may sound kind-of silly, but I would encourage you "pretend" with him. Allow him to use his imagination...pretend you are pirates out on the sea or astronauts on the moon...whatever you want. It may spark his creativity and he'll probably have fun too!
