I worked for an employer for a number of years. When my employment was terminated (by email) I was told that due to budget restrictions they had to cut some positions, mine being one. Four months later they have asked me to come back, because things are not going so good for them and need my expertise. The money and the benifits are the same as before, but I'm still a little upset about the way I was let go. Is it worth it for me to go back?

thanks for all that info. Just thought i'd let you all know I'm presently employed so the money is not an issue at all, nor am I collecting money from the taxpayers out there! But I did like that job.....

I would go back with a contract if possible, try to get something in writing that you will stay employed for a minimum of 18 month or you will get a 75% severance pay for the remaining time left from the 18 months, if they want you back bad enough they will do it.
Good Luck

If you need the money, go back .. but continue to look for a new job that will make you happy.. then when you leave.. don't give them a two week.. stiff them for a change.. :D
if you don't need the money, ignore their requests.

If you go back they might think you had no choice, and since you have a job, better not go back. Like it or not,you won;t feel the same once you go back.

Old jobs are like old relationships, just remember why you left in the first place. History does repeat itself.

Depends on how badly you need a job. I would not give up the job you have now for something that might not last.

It could happen again! If you're okay for a short term position, then you could try it, but remember that you'll be carrying some resentment!

No, no, a thousand times no, they treated you badly before and that will become the "ceiling" for the way they treat you now.
Keep hunting, something better will turn up.

whats to say they aren't going to leave you high and dry again.
if they want you back, ask for a 3 year contract and double your salary or tell them to take a hike
this is what I would do

i think you should go back..even though it might be a little weird. maybe if you talk to your employer about why you got cut earlier, they might give you a raise!
