I got mine pierced over 6 years ago. I just like they way they look and feel. It didn't really hurt, I have to take it out from time to time and clean it, but other than that it is low maintenance.
I thought long and hard before I decided to get it done. I waited two years between when I wanted one and when I got it done.

My brother and all his friends have their tongues pierced. They sit around playing with the stud in their tongue. doing their tongue back and forth. I told them to stop that. If you know what I mean. I would not have one, because I love to talk and I don't want to do anything to my tongue.

Nasty. It doesn't make me want to be their friend or be served by them at a fast food place. Guess they like the attention they're getting or they wouldn't have done that. Gosh and what the germs in their mouth. Good place to get an infection. Not cool at all.

I think it's painful too and definitely not easy to take care. Infections can occur if wounds arise.
It's personal choice but I am sure there are many ways to express our emotions without harming our bodies.

whats wrong with a tounge ring? it dont hurt like some say it does. and its not only for 'oral fixation' although that is a good use for it.lol no really tho i have one. as long as u clean your mouth and keep stuff out thats not supposed to be in there its all good

They all sound like they have speech problems and look as if they have bizarre OCD like oral fixations. In other words--NASTY!!!
