Atmospheric conditions tint the moon a 'blood-red' color sometimes. It is not abnormal.
Your answer from Cindy is Biblical from the Book of Revelation. When Revelation speaks of the 'moon,' it is really referring to the early Christian Church which "turned to blood" because it was severely persecuted by its enemies. Please don't let Biblical references take away your peace of mind. The Book of Revelation is NOT a blue-print of the future.
Additional Note: Mark 13 and Matthew 24 are not referring to the end times, but to the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem which occurred within the span of a generation (33 years) as Christ predicted: "I solemnly assure you, this generation will not pass away..."
To understand this you have to read the entire sequence; Jesus and his Disciples moved to the Mount of Olives so that Jesus could continue his discourse about the destruction of the temple.
The Christian Bible outlines God's Salvation Plan for Mankind. It is not a blue-print of the future.

There are two main reasons why the Moon would appear red, with the first being much more common than the second: 1. The sunlight reflecting off of the Moon passes through pollution or other particulates in the Earth's atmosphere, changing its color. This happens all the time, especially near cities and/or forest fires. 2. During a lunar eclipse, the Earth's shadow falls across the Moon, turning it a reddish-orange color. This only lasts short time. Lunar eclipses only happen during the Full Moon, and there are, on average, about two a year.

A red moon or blood moon is also called a harvest moon. It was a symbol to the ancient people that it is time to start the harvesting for the winter. There were 3 havests done before the on set of Winter, Yule being the last and final harvest.

There are two reasons for this: the moon's path across the sky, and the climate of earth. During the fall, the moon is lower in the sky, and the dust in the atmosphere gives it an orange or reddish color.
And it is a way to check weather. A red sunset usually means clear, dry air. A red dawn can mean rain.

On land, a red moon means a storm is coming.
On sea, it means that it's smooth sailing.

Several different symbols exist for the Red moon. There is the reference in the bible of course... Also the signalling that harvest time is completed and the earth will 'die' for the winter and return again... As well some believe that blood on the moon in an ill omen, often of death or conflict. Then of course there is the explanation that it's a astrological phenomenon from the dust or smoke in the air.

It happens a lot. I remember seeing a red moon one Halloween many many years ago. But it really doesn't mean anything. I hold rituals on full and new moons bimonthly and unless you're a chick and you're menstruating on this particular full moon it is a regular full moon.
