Everyone does have different taste, and sometimes rap music can be stupid and a little too extream and that's why I only like certain rap songs the ones that talk about what's really going on in the world like all this Iraq stuff and how hard life is in the ghetto and not to mention being broke.

why not?!

The music genera its self relyes a lot on rhythem and rhyme, I think of it as a way of showing off a language.Good rap music of presents deep language understanding, vivid use of metaphores and imagery, relay emotions though choice of diction, phrasing, intonation, rhythem. Listening to rap is like an artisitc exploration of modern use of language.

Most people are prejudiced about rap because some of the songs deals with gang related issues, but in reality most of them don't. Puff Daddy's "I'll be missing you" is a beautiful eulogy to his friend, "Changes" by TwoPacdeals is one of my all time favorates. Even Eminem has several songs that are worth while, "Stan" tells a tragic story, but at the same time describes a reality that's present in America today. "The Real Slim Shady" deals with the lost of individuality in the world today.

A lot of these song holds far deeper meaning than the love and love lost songs people listen to.

Really, you don't have to like the music, but you can still appreciate the effort and the talent.

I feel that way about some rap that has an annoying or ear-piercing beat, and very disrespectful lyrics refering to immoral things. There are some forms of rap that are good to listen to. I guess you just have to find the right kind. I didn't like rap when it first became big a few years ago, and I'm 14. I only started listening to it about 2 years ago, and only some.

Everyone wants to be the new 2Pac. I mean rap is one of the greatest genres that ever lived it sold the most albums out of all genres. It's easy to get into Rap that's why I decided to rap instead of being a punk. In other words people like you have no flava. Rock is a crock pot.

I don't know how anyone can like it. For me, the rappers give it a bad rap. They look like people who are selling music as though it were drugs. Maybe I don't like it because they are just too good at looking and sounding like criminals intent on spreading intimidation-especially toward their competition. And they seem to view their competition (other rappers) as people who are infringing on their drug sales turf. It projects such a negative image. I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to buy what they have to offer.

I've often wondered the same thing. Can you say "doggerel"? Very hate-filled and angry. Not that there's no place for that sort expressional philosophy - it just shouldn't be referred to as "music." Some other name maybe. But it is the opposite of the concept of "music" if you Google the etymology of that word. Comes from "muse" as in "amusing."

Pls dont judge rap music by what is being generated today. I would say listen to rap when they actually put thought into the rhymes. The rap songs dont even have a rhyme anymore nowadays its all about finding the right hook.

Because when you listen to rap, your mind shuts down. You relize that you don't have to think for yourself, form opinions, make choices... all you have to do is buy more rimz and listen to the beat.

I only listen to rap with all of my white friends as a joke (i live in hicks town Missouri). We blare it from trucks and yell at people to get off our turf.
