Around a certain time, all women are painted with pregnant looking stomachs. I saw one painting that was newly weds, so she couldn't have been pregnant, they were rich, and a rich man wouldn't marry a pregnant women.
Something's weird about that pregnancy look thing.

I think that was considered good looking/sexy at the time. so naturally artists paint the "perfect" body just as they do today.

The women are probably Rubenesque. Rubens (1577-1640) was a famous painter who always painted his women robust becuase this was a sign of fertility and wealth.

Only the wealthy could afford to eat a lot of food that's why it was the way it was, that's why back then, being fat was considered a sign of affluence and beauty.

Also, only the wealthy could afford to have portraits painted of themselves, that's why you see a lot of rounder, fuller women in paintings.

I'm not sure if anyone could ever know the answer to that. When a painting is done it is created by the artist and what they see. Although they didn't have birth control back then and there prob were alot of pregnancies.

It's not weird, it was the "look" because they were celebrating the woman and her natural childbearing state. She wasn't supposed to look pregnant, just healthy...ready to get pregnant.
